My name is Simon Strange. I'm a game designer, and I have a few things to promote. This is also sort of an introduction thread for me...
1 - I put out a puzzle game on iOS / Android / Kindle called "Sun Stones" - it's a Hopi-themed puzzle game (because, obviously, that's what the kids are into, right?) and I think it's pretty great. It has really nice audio & visual aesthetics, and it builds up a really nice collection of original puzzle mechanics. It's free on iOS, with additional content you can pay for. Android version starts with all the content, but costs $3. I quit my full-time job at a development studio to make this game - I swear it's really good!
2 - We're in the last few days of my Kickstater campaign for Kaiju Combat - it's a game all about giant monsters (Kaiju). We're obviously not going to hit our funding goal this time around, but backing us (which is free, since we're not going to reach our goal!) gets you into the design forums where we iterate on some original mosters, vote on the game's roster, etc. It also puts you on our mailing list for the re-launch we're planning for October.
(also, if anyone has some excellent web-design / forum administration skills - please message me!)
3 - Not content with my video game projects, I'm finishing up my first physical board game - to be published through Game Salute. If you're in the Seattle, WA, or Eugene, OR area, I'd love to get you involved in some playtesting! The game is very "space-opera" like, and takes place in the last gasps of the universe before everything expires due to entropic decay. In these desperate conditions, everyone has to work together to survive - but working together is hard!
4 - I keep up a personal blog at strangedesign.typepad.com. Tuesday/Thursdays I write about the game industry and various design topics, while Sundays I give a recap of the games I played the past week. Some people seem to like it.
5 - Lastly, if anyone has their own video or board game projects and they would like some expert feedback, I do short-term design consulting for projects that interest me. Write to info@sunstone.co
I am still sad I missed the kickstarter for this. But glad to here another campaign will start in October.
Unfortunately for me, the only Godzilla game I've ever played was Unleashed on the Wii. Though I still loved it, I wish I could have experienced some of the older titles as well. But Unleashed did help re-introduce me to the godzilla franchise I'd only seen bits and pieces of as a child, so I gotta thank you for that.
Yet another update to the Kaiju Combat game, they are still in need of backers for their kickstarter.
But I have some, somewhat, big news to share. The boss monster (or at least one of them) has been revealed.
In a collaboration with a best-selling author, Jeremy Robinson, the giant monster Nemesis, from the newly released novel Project Nemesis, has joined the game. The author is also working with Simon and Matt on the story for the game.
